Gombe NOUN Students Donate Educational Materials to Study Centre

Students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Gombe Study Centre, have donated educational and sanitation materials to the centre as part of their Community Development Project. The initiative, which took place on October 9, 2026, underscores the students' commitment to community service and institutional development.

The donated items, including whiteboards, markers, dustbins, and other useful materials, are expected to enhance teaching and learning while improving the overall environment of the study centre.

In conjunction with the donation, the students presented an Award of Excellence to Dr. Grace Hassan Gagare, the DES 303 Course Coordinator, in recognition of her dedication, guidance, and commitment to student development.

During the presentation, Mr. Andrew Bala Philbel, the leader of Group 2, stated that the initiative was designed to give back to an institution that has significantly contributed to the students' academic and personal growth. He described the donation as a modest yet meaningful expression of gratitude and service, reflecting the students’ desire to make a lasting positive impact on the study centre.

Philbel also encouraged his fellow students to support one another and apply the knowledge and skills acquired through their studies to address societal needs and contribute meaningfully to community development.

Dr. Adamu Bappah, the Centre Director, commended the students for their initiative and commitment to the growth and development of the centre. He noted that the gesture demonstrated the value of practical learning, teamwork, and community participation, emphasizing that university education should extend beyond classroom instruction to address real-life challenges.

Dr. Bappah also praised Dr. Gagare for her dedication to student development and urged the students to maintain their spirit of service, cooperation, and collective responsibility. The presentation concluded with expressions of appreciation from both the students and university officials, reaffirming the importance of collaboration and giving back to the institution.
