NOUN's E-Ticketing System Celebrates Third Anniversary, Streamlining Student Support

Abuja, Nigeria - The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is marking the third anniversary of its innovative e-ticketing system, a flagship project championed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters. Launched on June 7, 2022, the platform has revolutionized student support, offering a streamlined and accessible channel for addressing inquiries and resolving issues.

The e-ticketing system was conceived to eliminate the challenges associated with traditional support methods, such as long queues and travel burdens. It provides NOUN students and the wider public with a smart, simple, and responsive means of accessing assistance from any location.

Prof. Peters emphasized the system's importance during its launch, stating, “The e-ticketing platform is an important learner support system to address queries from NOUN's students on any issue that relates to the essence of their studentship.

The NOUN Information and Call Centre (NICC) is the central operational hub for the e-ticketing system. Equipped with state-of-the-art digital infrastructure and staffed by dedicated, skilled professionals, the NICC ensures the platform operates smoothly and efficiently, aligning with the core principles of Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

The NICC serves as the primary point of contact for information about the institution, catering to a diverse audience. Within the NICC, a specialized student support hub addresses complaints and inquiries through various channels, including phone calls, e-ticketing, email, and in-person interactions.

The center is committed to delivering exceptional support services, aiming to surpass student expectations and ensure their success throughout their academic journey – from initial enrollment to graduation and beyond.

Ms. Wosilatu Ainodion, head of the NICC unit, highlighted the key benefits of the e-ticketing system, including: prompt resolution of student complaints/enquiries, flexibility, easy accessibility, a user-friendly interface, cost-effectiveness, enhanced communication between students and the institution, progress tracking, and real-time updates for students.

“'E-ticketing platform is exclusively for active students who have completed registration and have a valid Matric Number. Prospective learners may use other channels such as the Call Centre, Face-to-face interaction and Email,” she clarified.

Our goal is to ensure accessibility to an open and responsive platform that effectively addresses inquiries and complaints within specified resolution time-lines as well as addresses the root cause(s) of student dissatisfaction, fostering loyalty and support within our student community,” Ainodion added.
