The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has instructed its staff to comply with the directive of the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, and suspend all academic activities during the 2023 election period. This decision was made following a circular from the National Universities Commission (NUC) requesting that all universities and inter/universities close and academic activities be suspended from Wednesday, February 22nd to Thursday, March 14th, 2023.

According to a memo signed by the Registrar of the university, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, all students will be affected by this directive and are prohibited from attending any study centers physically during this period. However, online activities such as facilitation, registration, and TMA's will continue.

The memo also stated that staff members are permitted to be absent from work two days before and after the election period. Full academic activities will resume on Wednesday, March 15th, 2023.

All Deans, Directors, and Centre Directors have been urged to strictly comply with the directive and ensure that it is widely circulated among staff and students. The university management is committed to adhering to the directive and contributing to a successful election period.
