Acting Director, Awgu Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Rosemary Ijeoma Nwofor, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, has expressed dismay over the inability of Awgu Community and its environs to harness the enormous benefits of studying at the centre situated within the doorsteps of the locality.

According to her, this is evidenced in the low enrolment of students at the centre, saying that the centre's management will not relent in its advocacy campaign until the centre witnesses an upward increase of students influx.

Nwofor stated this during the centre's advocacy visit to the General Meeting of Awgu Egbeleli Development Union held at Awgu Central School in Awgu, Enugu State.

While describing NOUN as a fully-fledged federal university, the Ag. director also sensitised the audience about the modus operandi of the institution.

She charged them to brace up for enrolment at the centre so as to enjoy the advantages of its flexibility and cost-effectiveness that NOUN as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution provides.

Nwofor reiterated the blessedness of Awgu Community for being considered to situate the centre within its domain and advised parents to hurriedly enrol their children at the centre for the benefits they stand to gain while studying at NOUN.

On the part of well-to-do people, the guidance and counselling expert counselled them to see reason(s) to give scholarship to the less privileged ones and the indigent who desire knowledge but are financially handicapped.

She solicited for their cooperation and support whenever they may be called upon.

Speaking also, the President General of Awgu Egbeleli Development Union, Prof. Reko Okoye, applauded the centre's visit and said that the benefits of acquiring higher degree education are unquantifiable.

He therefore, pledged his commitment towards encouraging his community members to enrol at the centre.
