NOUN Registrar Highlights University's Role as a Leader in Instructional Delivery

Kaduna, Nigeria – The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is rapidly evolving into the nation's premier platform for instructional delivery, according to Registrar Mr. Oladipo Ajayi. He made the declaration during a recent visit to NOUN facilities in Kaduna.
Mr. Ajayi addressed staff members representing various NOUN entities in Kaduna, including the Kaduna Study Centre, the Nigerian Air Force Special Study Centre, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, and the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD). The visit followed Mr. Ajayi's attendance at a meeting of Registrars of Nigerian universities held in the city. He emphasized the importance of engaging directly with the university's management and staff at the local level.
During his address, the Registrar commended the dedication and vision of the NOUN staff, which he credited with the university's remarkable growth and success. He urged them to maintain their commitment to the institution.
“It is imperative that you continue to give your best to the university,” Mr. Ajayi stated, reflecting on NOUN's journey to its current prominent position.

Mr. Ajayi also assured the staff that the NOUN management prioritizes their well-being and encouraged them to be proactive in safeguarding and promoting the university's reputation. "Your contributions are vital to advancing the interests of the university," he emphasized.
He lauded the leadership style of Vice-Chancellor Professor Olufemi Peters, highlighting his receptiveness to innovative ideas and open-door policy for staff contributions.
Addressing concerns about recurring security issues on the Kaduna campus, Mr. Ajayi challenged the Head of Security to enhance vigilance and prevent future incidents. He urged all staff to take personal responsibility for protecting university property and maintaining its integrity.
“We must not allow theft within the NOUN community. Let us uphold the legacy that defines us,” he asserted.
The Registrar expressed the university's appreciation for the passion and commitment demonstrated by the Directors of Centres. He acknowledged the inevitability of challenges but encouraged staff to utilize internal mechanisms for conflict resolution before seeking external intervention. He appreciated the directors for their effective management of issues.
Professor Aminu Umar, Director of CHRD, expressed gratitude for the Registrar's visit, describing it as a motivational call to action for NOUN staff in Kaduna. He affirmed the commitment of the CHRD and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences to collaborate and contribute to the university's overall objectives.
Dr. Babangida Iro, Director of the Kaduna Study Centre, echoed this sentiment, assuring the Registrar of their dedication to maintaining quality while utilizing available resources effectively. He also thanked the university management for their ongoing support and praised the Vice-Chancellor's leadership as a source of inspiration for the entire staff.
During his visit, Mr. Ajayi also toured various facilities, including the NOUN sachet water production unit, the NOUN Guest House, the NOUN Staff School, and the tailoring unit. He engaged with pupils at the NOUN Staff School who are developing tailoring skills.
