NOUN's Mass Communication Department Extends Reach to Owerri Study Centre
Owerri, Imo State - In a move to bolster practical learning, the Mass Communication Department of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has extended its reach to the Owerri Study Centre in Imo State. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Prof. Chidinma Onwubere, a former Head of Department (HOD), visited the centre to officially hand over copies of the department's flagship publications, NOUNScope newspaper and NOUNDigest magazine.
The handover ceremony saw Prof. Onwubere present the publications to Mrs. Comfort O. Maduabuchi, the desk officer for Mass Communication at the Owerri Centre. Emphasis was placed on ensuring efficient distribution of the materials to the student body.
The staff and students of the Mass Communication Department are responsible for the publications. These publications are designed to provide hands-on experience for students. Mrs. Maduabuchi received specific instructions to distribute the newspapers and magazines to students who were registered for MAC 312 and MAC 421 during the 2024_2 semester.
The Centre Director, Dr. Juliana Ndunagu, expressed her sincere appreciation upon receiving her own complimentary copies of both publications. She pledged to provide the department with valuable feedback on both the quality of the publications and the effectiveness of the distribution process.
Dr. Ndunagu further extended her gratitude to the Mass Communication Department for their commitment to providing NOUN students with the essential practical experience needed to excel in their field. This initiative underscores NOUN's dedication to fostering well-rounded graduates equipped for the demands of the modern media landscape.
