The body of late Chief Owoh Njionye has been laid to rest in his residence Ezi Ndi Oturu in Amajaukwu Autonomous Community, Ahaba-Imenyi Isuiukwuato Local Government Area, Abia State.
The deceased was the beloved father of Mrs. Ezinne Uduma, the Chief Accountant of the Abakaliki Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Ebonyi State.
Iya Owoh, as he was fondly called by his admirers, died on May 30, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
NOUN South-east Regional Media Officer, who witnessed the burial ceremony, recalled testimonies about the deceased as a man who exemplified humility, always thoughtful, never demanding and forever considerate of others.
He was described as a man of conviviality, easy-going, gregariousness, peace-seeking man who brought light and love into the lives of everyone he met.
His community service earned him an honour with the Chieftaincy title of "Chief Onyeokworo Yarie" in 2013, which was a culmination of a lifetime of tolerance, dedication to his people and it was that he wore with great pride.
Amongst the high calibre of persons who graced the occasion were the son-in-law to late Owoh, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, the trio of Study Centre directors: Dr. Ama Aka Udu, Dr. Nkata U. Kalu and Dr. Bibian Ugoala, of Abakaliki, Asaga-Ohafia and Akwa, respectively.
Others included the PAR of Enugu Study Centre, Mr. Matthew Egede and staff of the Abakaliki Centre
