In an effort to increase students enrollment, the management of Asaga-Ohafia Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by the Acting Director, Dr. Nkata U.Kalu, has embarked on a 1-day advocacy campaign tagged "Operation Catch Them Young."

The advocacy was tailored towards catching the young school leavers drawn from different secondary schools in Asaga-Ohafia, Abia State, to woo them into considering NOUN as a credible institution where they can pursue and achieve their educational aspirations of becoming graduates.

While sensitising the audience about the operations of NOUN as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of instructional delivery, Kalu also stated that there is no barrier to age.

He added that NOUN is a full-fledged university regulated and accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Speaking about the benefits of studying at NOUN, Kalu said students enjoy the advantages of its flexibility, affordability and cost-effectiveness, adding that the Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) are prepared for students to leverage on it for positive outcomes.

"It is important to understand that instead of wasting your destiny by taking JAMB repeatedly to no avail, you can secure admission into NOUN with five credits including English & Mathematics to study any course of choice. There is no need for any further delay," Kalu stated.

He admonished the audience to embrace the opportunity the institution provides by enrolling at the centre.

Statistically, over 30 young school leavers were present, even as they took turns to ask questions on grey areas while the centre management provided corresponding answers.

Among the people who graced the occasion were the Chairman, Education Committee of Asaga-Ohafia Development Union (ADU), Mr. Ivan Anya, Mr. Kalu I. Uduma, member and Mr. Kumson Kalu, member, among others.
