The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Technology, Innovation and Research (TIR), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Godwin Akper, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, visited the Bauchi Study Centre where he monitored the conduct and general administration of the ongoing 2024_1 PoP examination.
The DVC was received by the Acting Centre Director, Mrs. Hauwa Dede and other senior staff of the centre who took him round to monitor the ongoing examination, and inspected the physical structures at the centre.
Akper was highly impressed with the smooth conduct of the examination and extolled the virtues of the students for being well-behaved, orderly and in compliance with the rules and regulations guiding the exercise.
He was informed by centre director that there was no evidence of disorder or examination irregularities recorded since the commencement of the exercise.
Akper also acknowledged the harmonious working relationship and spirit of team work among the staff of the centre.
He commended Mrs. Dede and her staff for their exceptional commitment in ensuring a seamless examination.
Akper, who was at centre as early as 7:50am, interacted with some students about their experiences on the ongoing examination shortly after the 8:30am session, and encouraged them to read very well to come out with first-class grades.
The DVC also had a brief discussion with the centre director where she voiced out some of their challenges concerning the exams and other issues, even as she received the DVC’s assurances that his assessment on the situation of the centre and other issues would be reported to the management of the university for necessary action
Dede had appealed to the management of the university for the completion of two age-long buildings at the centre which were initially planned for additional e-exams halls.
The project had once received the intervention of a member representing Alkaleri/ Kirfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abba Pali, but the project remains uncompleted.
