The Dean, Faculty of Arts, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Iyabode Nwabueze, on Friday, November 3, 2023, visited the Benin Study Centre, Edo State, where she monitored the conduct and general administration of the ongoing 2023_2 Pen-On-Paper examinations.
The centre director, Dr. Akeem B. Disu, who warmly received Nwabueze, expressed delight at her visit and later took her around the examination halls for inspection.
The dean, as she moved from hall to hall, expressed appreciation to the students for choosing NOUN as their preferred university for their academic pursuits.
She inquired whether the students had any complaints or remarks regarding their academic activities.
Some students in response stated that they find it difficult to access hard copies of course materials and that the unavailability of instructional videos for some courses posed a drawback to them.
Nwabueze assured the students that the university is focused on ensuring that every of its students has a seamless and worthwhile learning experience.
She reminded them that as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, the university has sufficiently provided for soft copies of all coursewares which are accessible to all learners online.
The dean observed that it was only students that participate in the free online facilitation sessions sponsored by the university for all students.
She encouraged them to participate actively in the online facilitations as their absence and indifference can dampen the zeal of the facilitators who are always willing to render their assistance.
Nwabueze commended the staff of the centre for cooperating with the management of the centre and with one another to ensure a smooth and successful examinations administration at the centre.
