Change is an inevitable constant, and at the Fugar Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), this truth recently manifested as Prof. Jonathan E. Aliede, who has steered the center's course for nearly five years, gracefully passed on the leadership mantle. The executive authority was handed over to Mr. Femi Joseph Akpata, a principal assistant registrar at the center, marking the commencement of a new chapter in the center's journey.

Prof. Aliede's tenure at the helm has been characterized by dedication and transformation. After leading the center through various phases, he gracefully passed on the reins to Akpata, who had previously acted as the center director for a year following the departure of former director, Dr. Comfort Lawani, in 2017.

With his recall to the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Aliede expressed profound gratitude to NOUN's management for providing ample opportunities for staff to realize their professional and administrative aspirations. He recognized the institution's role in elevating their statuses and contributing to the growth of the organization.

Having been a part of Prof. Aliede's team since October 2018, Mr. Akpata is well-prepared to lead Fugar Community Study Centre into the future. Prof. Aliede confidently endorsed his successor, emphasizing that the role of leadership comes with the collective responsibility to drive increased student enrollment and foster positive relations between the study center and the community.

Akpata, as he formally received the documents signifying his new role, expressed gratitude to Prof. Aliede on behalf of the center's staff. He commended Aliede's dedication, focus, and diligence, which played a pivotal role in the center's achievements. Akpata conveyed well wishes for Aliede's future assignments within the institution.

Before the transition, a farewell courtesy visit was paid to the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Emmanuel Ayekhele Ogah, the Ukphe Ukpi of Unone. Prof. Aliede expressed gratitude to the royal leader for his unwavering support during his tenure. The traditional ruler, in turn, commended Aliede's selfless service over the last five years and extended his blessings for Aliede's future endeavors.

As the symbolic torch is passed from one leader to another, Fugar Community Study Centre enters a new era under the stewardship of Mr. Akpata. The legacy of dedication, focus, and diligence established by Prof. Aliede serves as the foundation for the center's continued growth and development. Change is not merely a transition; it's an opportunity to build upon past achievements and steer the ship towards even greater horizons.
