In a recent 2-day visit to Kano Study Centre, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Isaac Sammani Rabo Butswat, took charge of supervising students participating in the mandatory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
During his visit, Prof. Butswat diligently went around the state to oversee NOUN students engaged in SIWES at various institutions and organizations. His first stop was the Aminu Kano International Airport, where he personally supervised two students undertaking their SIWES exercise.
Accompanied by the Director of Kano Study Centre, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq, and other dedicated staff, the DVC then proceeded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal office, for a similar exercise.
Continuing his mission, Prof. Butswat ensured that students undergoing their SIWES exercise at the Federal Radio Co-operation, Pyramid FM, Kano, and the Kano State Ministry of Environment (Pollution Control Laboratory) received his close attention and guidance.
Not stopping there, he also made a visit to the Kano State Public Complaint Commission to carry out the same supervisory role. Later, he inspected the facilities at the Kano Study Centre and held a productive meeting with the center's dedicated staff.
During this meeting, Prof. Butswat urged the staff members to continue their punctuality and dedication to their assigned responsibilities. He expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment and resilience he observed and commended them for their hard work.
Furthermore, the DVC praised the center's director for his effective leadership, which has fostered an atmosphere of cooperation and dedication among the staff.
The primary goal behind the supervision of SIWES students is to ensure that they receive a quality learning experience. The university is committed to providing top-notch education to its students, aiming to produce highly skilled professionals who will contribute to the nation's efficiency in the workforce.
Prof. Butswat was highly impressed by the students' conduct and performance during their SIWES exercises at their respective organizations. The visit served as a reaffirmation of NOUN's dedication to fostering excellence and creating well-prepared graduates ready to make a positive impact in their careers.
Overall, the visit to Kano Study Centre proved to be a successful endeavor, aligning with NOUN's mission to uphold academic excellence and produce top-quality manpower for the country.
